The TREC’s measurement of exam pass rate by the provider
Why is the TREC bothering with tracking who’s passing their exam, anyway? It’s actually to help you out. In order to continue to offer pre-license education, providers have to meet a certain benchmark. If they don’t, it’s proof their education isn’t that good and the TREC shuts them down.
Specifically, they need to have a pass rate that’s within 80% of the average statewide pass rate. Right now, the overall pass rate is just 61.21%. You read that right. Less than two-thirds of prospective agents are passing their Texas real estate exams on the first go.
The TREC expects any education provider to have a pass rate of 80% of the overall pass rate. Currently, that means providers only need to pass 48.97% of their students.
