In order to meet the requirement in ORS 696.174 for three hours of content on recent changes in real estate rules and laws, all real estate licensees in Oregon must take and complete a Law and Rule Required Course (LARRC) approved by the Oregon Real Estate Board for the 2024-2025 license renewal cycle. Since July 1, 2022, LARRC must contain state and federal fair housing content, as established in HB 2703 (2021). In support of these statutory requirements, the Oregon Real Estate Board and other industry stakeholders developed the curriculum that includes the topics that must be covered in the fair housing review, along with required (and optional) topics for this renewal cycle. This class fulfills those requirements and covers every required topic in the Board-issued curriculum.
The class begins by explaining changes made to Oregon Administrative Rule Chapter 863-015-0092, followed by an examination of updates to Oregon Revised Statute 696.990. The next section addresses Oregon's "Love Letter Law" under HB 2550, and provides an update on the enforceability of the law. The remaining portion of class is dedicated to a thorough review and discussion of each of the 21 learning objectives on state and federal fair housing laws and rules established by the Board.
This 3-hour class is designed to accompany 27 hours of continuing education (CE) in approved real estate topics in order to meet the full 30-hour CE requirement for license renewal.
